Top 5 Wednesdays – Favorite Creepy Settings

Hi everyone and welcome to Top 5 Wednesdays! Top 5 Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted on a Goodreads group, the link to which I’ve included here in case any of you would like to join.

It’s October! With Halloween coming up, all of the topics are Halloween themed and I’m thrilled! Today’s topic is Favorite Creepy Settings. I might’ve interpreted the topic slightly differently from others so here’s what I got.

SILENT CITY

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

The description of the Silent Brothers itself freaked me out a little. Couple that with the Silent City and it was totally creepy (in a good way though). The freakiest part was when they said that the arches were coated with the ash of dead Shadowhunters! I was just about as weirded out as Clary.

THE ISLAND IN LORD OF THE FLIES AT NIGHT

Lord of the Flies by William Golding

Lord of the Flies

Yep. Don’t ever want to even imagine being stranded there.

CRANK PALACE

The Maze Runner Series by James Dashner

I cried so much in this scene! *spoilers* Ugh why you kill Newt *spoilers end*. The description of all the Cranks killing each other and the whole place covered in shards of broken glass and blood was creepy!

CAMP HAVEN

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

The description of the sorting of bodies on Camp Haven in this book is creepy. So creepy.

THE OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO

Divergent Series by Veronica Roth

As described by Amanda Prior in Insurgent, the outside world is definitely creepy for me.

And that’s all for today! Hope you have a great day! Until next time
