MY REVIEW
I received a review copy of This Time by Azaaa Davis from the author in exchange for an honest review.
For a debut novel, This Time is a remarkable read. The book follows Nadira Holden, a demon hunter who has been resurrected after 20 years only to find out that the war between demons and humans is over. We follow her as she navigates her life in a future she never expected to see.
The first thing I loved about the book is the characters. The book features diverse characters and while they aren’t all necessarily likeable, they’re definitely interesting. I absolutely loved the character of Derek and definitely would love to read more of him in the future. Nadira was slightly more complex and I had a like/annoyed-by relation with her throughout the book.
As for the book itself, the writing style and narration of the book were fabulous! I do wish that the plot were a little more focused on a few major events instead of several minor ones spread out through the book but as this is just the first book, I expect a lot more from both the story and the characters in the subsequent books in the Nadira Holden series especially after that amazing cliffhanger!
Overall, This Time by Azaaa Davis gets 3.5 out of 5 stars from me!

I consider myself an indie author and crunchy mom. A native New Yorker, I currently living in New Hampshire with my husband and daughter.
I am a stay at home writer mom. My dream in life is to write popular fiction that inspires people. Reading a fantasy novel at age fourteen changed my life. It sparked my imagination and woke me up. I developed a love for reading, discovered a love for writing, and remembered my love for drawing. Reading helped me dream big, and create opportunities for myself.
I started writing This Time—a story about a demon hunter and those who love her—in the spring of 2017. My aim is to publish one book in 2018, and then two books in 2019.
Writing tips:
When writing your first draft, do not edit as you go! Trying to make every sentence and paragraph perfect during your first draft can be a waste of time. The goal of draft one is to get all of your words on paper.
Break up your big goals into small, manageable, baby steps. Write them down. Be specific. Tackle them one at a time. You can do it!
Fun Facts:
I come from a big family, 5 siblings!
I studied French from middle school to college, and still can’t string a coherent sentence together.
I love traveling! I’ve been to Mexico and several Caribbean islands. I want to visit parts of Africa and Europe one day.
My favorite books are Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters Trilogy) by Juliet Marillier and Kushiel’s Dart (Kushiel’s Legacy Series) by Jacqueline Carey. These are amazing fantasy series with superior storytelling. I laughed, I cried, I was teleported to another world, and had to know what would happen next.
